JRMSU successfully culminates PaHIValo Project with Red Life Advocates
In response to the rising global demand for awareness and mitigation pertinent to the escalating rate of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) cases, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development and Extension headed by Dr. Rizza B. Bagalanon, in collaboration with the Red Life Advocates, successfully culminated the PaHIValo Project last January 31 at the JRMSU-Main Campus Library.
This lineup of intervention lectures and capacity-building workshops was designed to equip the Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) community with the knowledge and skills to compassionately and effectively carry out HIV diagnostic, testing, and counseling services, in alignment with the Republic Act 11166, also known as the “Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act.”
Through the dedicated efforts of the Office of the Extension Director led by Ms. Bobmil Flores, participants were educated on Provider-Initiated HIV Counseling and Facility-based Testing from January 27 to 31, 2025. The training strengthened their skills and confidence enabling them to take a more active role in HIV support services following the 5-day program.
Furthermore, through the PaHIValo Project, the University President Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit, ensured the faithful adherence to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 37, s. 2001 which encourages the integration of HIV Awareness in higher education programs.
