JRMSU launches 2015 ASEAN Integration

In support with the Initiative ASEAN Integration (IAI) 2015, the Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) Main Campus launched its ‘taking-part’ in such integration after it unveiled the ASEAN Logo and hoisted the flag of the ASEAN and its 10 member states during the launching program held in front of the DSAS Office last Tuesday, January 6.Prof. Jay D. Telen, called on the entrance of the ASEAN colors. As accorded in the protocol, Brunei’s flag entered first followed by the flags of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and finally the ASEAN flag.

The unveiling of the ASEAN Logo then followed which was headed by the University President, Dr. Edgar S. Balbuena, along with the three Vice Presidents, and all the Deans of the respective colleges of the Main Campus. White balloons also sailed up to signify the commencement of a new united ASEAN Community.

The flags of each nation and of the ASEAN were hoisted along with the rhythm of “The ASEAN Way.” The raising was assisted by Dr. Balbuena himself along with his Vice Presidents, Deans and Assistant Deans of the Main Campus, the SSG President and the newly crowned Miss University 2014. The hoisting concluded the program.

Dr. Evelyn R. Campiseño, on her message, emphasized the readiness of JRMSU to embrace the challenges alongside the ASEAN Integration and the K+12 Curriculum implemented by the DepEd  as a stepping stone for our educational system reform to walk along other ASEAN countries.

Dr. Balbuena also urged the students to work hard on their studies in order to compete with the other universities in ASEAN. Moreover, he also challenged the faculty to make their teaching coherent with that of the integration.

The said launching was originally scheduled on the morning of January 5, but due to the bad weather, it was rescheduled on Tuesday. -Rodavarg Vincent B. Gravador, TSC
