JRMSU inks MOU with Wonkwang Health Science University
In recognition of the importance of transnational education in today’s global academic arena, JRMSU sealed partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with Wonkwang Health Science University on October 28, 2024 at the CNAHS Audio Visual Hall, JRMSU Main Campus with the University Key Officials headed by University President, Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit, and the Officer-In-Charge of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation Affairs of Wonkwang Health Science University, Ms. Eun Sil Park, together with Ms. Mi Sung Kim.
As emphasized in her speech, Dr. Naguit discussed the possible impact of this partnership for BS Tourism Management, BS Hospitality Management, and BS Nursing programs of JRMSU stating that, “This partnership with Wonkwang Health Science University, alongside our other international collaborations, will be instrumental in realizing JRMSU’s vision for global competitiveness. […] It is high time to add the Korean Language as one of the foreign languages that students should learn. […] With Wonkwang Health Science University’s reputable Department of Nursing, I am confident of its invaluable impact to honing the skills of our future healthcare workers. I eagerly anticipate how this collaboration will further elevate the already commendable performance of our College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.”
Further, Dr. Jay D. Telen reiterated the significant contribution of this international partnership to the University’s academic standardization as stated in his speech, “In the context of Philippine Higher Education, State Universities and Colleges are evaluated and quantified based on certain Key Result Areas (KRA2): 1) Quality and Relevance of Instruction; 2) Intellectual Partnership and Collaboration; 3) Faculty and Student Mobility. […] We are deeply grateful for considering JRMSU as one of your partners in this endeavor. We believe that this collaboration will not only benefit our students in terms of Higher Education and assured employment, but also contribute to strengthening the bonds between our nations.“
This MOU Signing Ceremony was realized with the efforts of the Office of the Vice President for External Affairs, Linkages and Resource Generation headed by Dr. Joseph Salvel R. Campiseño, and was witnessed by University Key Officials including the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jay D. Telen; Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Dr. Rizza B. Bagalanon; Vice President for Finance, Atty. Nizza P. Lesterio-Absin; Vice President for Administration, Dr. Reynaldo M. Venezuela; Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Marissa M. Recapente; Dapitan Campus Director, Dr. Patrick G. Galleto; Dipolog Campus Director, Dr. Marvin A. Recapente; Katipunan Campus Director, Dr. Leonardo J. Zamoras; Siocon Campus Director, Dr. Chona F. Torrefranca; Tampilisan Campus Director, Dr. Merlyn N. Luza; Director for External Affairs and Linkages, Dr. Carina A. Romarate; together with College Deans and Associate Deans, and Heads of Offices of the Main Campus. This event was also graced by Board of Regents Private Sector Representative, Hon. Kathlyn Uyehara-Hamoy; and former Baliangao Mayor, Hon. Svetlana Jalosjos-De Leon who are instrumental to the realization of this partnership.
As Dr. Campiseño proudly cited in his closing speech, “In today’s global landscape, education cannot be confined within borders. By fostering collaborations, we offer our students and faculty the chance to engage with diverse perspectives, study in different environments, and develop a broader understanding of the world— preparing them to be globally competitive. […] At JRMSU, internationalization is more than a goal; it’s a commitment to creating a forward-thinking academic community. Partnering with institutions […] allows us to expand student and faculty exchanges, joint research, curriculum development, and community outreach aligned with international standards. […] Together with our international partners, we aim to become a model of a smart, inclusive, and sustainable education.”
Indeed, this is a head start towards global education for JRMSU!
