JRMSU Associate Dean wins Best Paper Presenter Award in the
2024 AFMechRDEN Conference

Engr. Karlfred Junnee A. Doydora, Associate Dean of the School of Engineering of Jose Rizal Memorial State University – Tampilisan Campus, won the Best Paper Presenter Award (Postharvest Category) at the 2024 Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Research, Development, and Extension Network (AFMechRDEN) Conference.

The three-day event was held at El Vistra Hotel in the City of Angeles, Pampanga, on November 6-8, 2024 with the theme: “Advancing Agriculture and Fisheries through Mechanization: Embracing Technological Innovation for a Sustainable Future”. The conference was jointly organized by the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (DA-PHilMech) and the University of the Philippines Los Baños – Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (UPLB-BIOMECH); paving the way towards modernizing the agricultural and fisheries sectors, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing productivity through mechanization.

Engr. Doydora presented two significant research papers at the AFMechRDEN Conference. The first paper titled “Design and Development of Towed Wheel-Mounted SINAG Power Sprayer” was submitted for the Production Category. The second paper titled “Prototyping and Pilot Testing of Seaweed Harvester” (a NEDA Innovation Grant funded project), was submitted for the Postharvest Category. The latter was aimed to address the challenges of manual seaweed harvesting in the Philippines, which then ultimately won the Best Paper Presenter Award.
