Jambre, JRMSU shine with transformative BBQ safety initiatives

In pursuit of enhancing consumer confidence in safety and sanitation, Ms. Kristine Gladys E. Jambre, Assistant Professor II, from the College of Arts and Sciences of Jose Rizal Memorial State University– Dipolog Campus received the Best Paper Award in the International Conference on Business, Education, Science, and Technology (ICBEST) 2024 at Bulacan State University, November 20-22.

With the theme “Fostering Innovation and Collaboration: Bridging Business, Education, Science and Technology, for a Sustainable Future,” Ms. Jambre’s paper entitled “Impact Evaluation of Barbecue Vendors and Operators in a Progressive City: Ex-Post Impact of a Project in Zamboanga Del Norte” focuses on the successful rebranding of the Dipolog City Barbecue Vendors Association (DCBVA) with the support of the Department of Science and Technology Region IX’s (DOST-IX), which brought positive impacts to both consumers and food handlers. The result proves that consumers have gained confidence in the food safety and sanitation of the barbecue products, especially in hygiene and health education, facilities, and equipment, resulting an increase in income.

The project further recommends that the Local Government of Dipolog City should take customer suggestions into account, recognizing the importance of food safety and sanitation to consumers’ health and the contributions of the DCBVA to the local economy and tourism sector. To ensure full compliance with existing sanitation laws, constant monitoring and evaluation by the Sanitation Department is essential. Additionally, consistent food safety training should be conducted to continually enforce sanitation standards.

The JRMSU community, under the leadership of the University President Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit, extends its warmest congratulations to Ms. Kristine Gladys E. Jambre for this momentous accomplishment and excellence.
