JRMSU College of Law Honors 16 New Lawyers in Testimonial Ceremony
Sixteen (16) new lawyers, in its 16th year of operation, with a Top 16 on the ranking.
The Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) is incredibly proud to celebrate the exceptional success of a new breed of top-notch lawyers produced by the JRMSU College of Law in view of the recent Bar Examinations as the college holds a Testimonial Event at the JRMSU Dapitan – Library AVR on December 20.
Surging into the exclusive circle of the Top 20 after the 12th Bar-Operations, the JRMSU College of Law was greeted with a resounding recognition as it celebrated this historic milestone with the overwhelming 77.78% Bar Examinations Performance for first time takers with the National Passing Rate of 37.84%.
“Indeed, the JRMSU Administration is grateful for making the Juris Doctor Program as one of the flagship programs of the University which has strengthened its academic integrity and gained respect, trust, and confidence from the community […] The JRMSU College of Law has consistently drawn accolades not only from the academic circle but also from the outside community for having produced new lawyers every year,” the noteworthy remarks of Dr. Jay D. Telen, the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
After years of arduous journey, the courageous crop of new lawyers shared their triumphant testimonies as part of this long-standing annual tradition of the College of Law. During this momentous occasion, Atty. Recel L. Elumba, who ranked 16th in the 2024 Bar Exams, shared her five key points (with JRMSU acronym): Jesus, Resilience, Mentors, Support System, Unstoppable Drive.
Completing this celebration, the University President, Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit, acknowledged this outstanding achievement of the College of Law and the new generation of lawyers it produced, expressing, “You have actually brought great honor and pride not only to yourselves but also to JRMSU. I thank you so much for that.” By taking inspiration from the highlights of the life of Joseph “who was accused, being sold, being put to prison, became next in rank to the Pharaoh,” Dr. Naguit exemplified resilience.
The College of Law Dean, Atty. Mark Jasper G. Cielo, along with esteemed law professors Judge Veronica Laput and Judge Chad Martin Paler, with the JRMSU College of Law students, conveyed their all-out support during the ceremony.
The University Administration has consistently manifested its strong support for the College of Law with its key officials present during this celebratory event, including the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jay D. Telen; Vice President for Finance and Law Professor Atty. Nizza Lesterio-Absin; Vice President for Administration Dr. Reynaldo Venezuela; Dipolog Campus Administrator Dr. Marvin Recapente; Dapitan Campus Administrator Dr. Patrick G. Galleto; Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Marissa Recapente; and JRMSU Legal Officer Atty. Lino P. Viadnes.
