SALUTING INTEGRITY
JRMSU Upholds Moral Integrity and Civic Responsibility as Exemplified by Main Campus Guards on Duty
“Amoa jud tong iuli kay mao na ang amoang trabaho; to secure lives and property of the school,” Richard Bezar Cabanlit shared in an interview after displaying a remarkable sense of integrity as he promptly surrendered a significant sum of money to the authorities; discovered while on duty last October 17, 2024. The commitment of Mr. Cabanlit, together with five (5) other guards, was recognized by the Main Campus Director, Dr. Patrick G. Galleto during the Flag Raising Ceremony today, October 21, 2024.
The five guards—Richard Bezar Cabanlit, Perlito Talic, Rex Alcaraz, Christopher Ryan Catulong, and Joseph L. Gardose Jr. were conducting their routine patrol when they came across a bag containing the said money. Without hesitation, they impressively surrendered the substantial amount to the University authorities, earning praises from the community for their honesty.
“Sa pag roaming namo, nasaka mi sa Registrar[‘s] Building, nisaka mi sa second floor sa room sa Grade 10—last room, nakit-an sa akoang kauban na naay nahabilin nga bag nga puti. Pag abot pa namo dire [Guardhouse, Gate 2] amoang gilantaw na naa diay toy sulod na kwarta.’’
According to reports, the amount of cash recovered was around Php 27,000; left by a Junior High School treasurer. With respect to their decision to have the exact amount returned, the guards stated that it was not a mere obligatory recourse, but was in fact a reflection of values instilled by their own families and by the institution.
“Amoa jud na i-surrender kay dili man to amoa. Kinahanglan jud na iuli jud to nga kwarta kay ang tag-iya ato kay luoy pud kaayo if wala to namo na recover ug lahi moy naka kita ato intawon, dakong problema […] Amoa jud tong iuli kay mao na ang amoang trabaho, to secure lives and property of the school—the JRMSU Main Campus.”
Just like the five security guards, and as constantly reiterated by our University President, Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit, may we continue to exhibit moral integrity and civic responsibility in everything we do.
