Charting JRMSU’s future: Smart UniverCity in motion

 

Jose Rizal Memorial State University successfully concluded its three-day JRMSU Systemwide Strategic Planning (JSSP), refining the university’s strategic visions and aligning its goals for the coming years held at the Villa Pablea Mountain Resort, Rizal, on September 25-27, 2024.

The event featured a series of workshops, discussions, and keynote presentations that leveraged smart technology across various domains to drive socio-economic growth and enhance educational quality in a long-term vision, achieving excellence, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable development for society through the application of Smart UniverCity by the end of 2030.

Highlights included the intended outcome for every sector: in Smart Education, JRMSU expands access to inclusive, quality education, producing globally competitive graduates through research and innovation. Smart Facility Initiatives create a sustainable, accessible campus environment that fosters collaboration and technological innovation. Smart Management promotes transparency, stakeholder engagement, and efficient resource utilization, ensuring financial sustainability and operational excellence. Smart Mobility enhances campus accessibility and convenience through efficient, sustainable transportation solutions. Smart Life focuses on student and staff well-being, promoting a supportive and inclusive campus environment. Smart Economy optimizes government funds and generates innovative income-generating activities, enhancing community development and student employability. Smart Environment champions sustainability through environmental education and community service programs, contributing to climate action and societal well-being. Lastly, Smart Security ensures a secure and resilient campus, reducing crime rates and mitigating risks to protect all stakeholders.

Participants gained valuable insights and shared best practices during breakout sessions, fostering a rich exchange of ideas. Attendees expressed optimism about the university’s future as it aims to become a smart university, leveraging innovative technologies and methodologies for comprehensive development. University officials were pleased with the event’s outcomes, noting that it not only reinforced the institution’s strategic goals but also highlighted its commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment for both students and faculty.

The continuous progress of Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) is attributed to the unwavering support of the University Administration, led by University President Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit. This progress is further bolstered by the dedicated efforts of the Planning Unit, spearheaded by Atty. Pamela S. Rubi-Anito, Mr. Lester Charles D. Chavez, Ms. Rayshel Caingcoy-Cayongcong, and Ms. Mimi-Marie A. Lasco. Additionally, the Strategic Planning Facilitators, including Dr. Paterno Baguinat III, Mr. Jovito C. Anito Jr., and Mr. Janven A. Granfon, along with the JSAP Technical Working Group, have played a crucial role. This successful strategic planning event is pivotal in shaping the university’s future initiatives, further enhancing its role as a leader in innovative education within the region and beyond. Without their dedication, the dream of elevating JRMSU would not be possible.
