RDE Agenda

The research development and extension agenda of Jose Rizal Memorial State University is a strategic plan that outlines the institution’s objectives and goals for research, development, and community outreach. This plan is aligned with the national and regional development plans, which aim to improve the quality of life of Filipinos by promoting sustainable economic growth, social development, and environmental protection.

Research is an integral part of the agenda, which seeks to generate new knowledge, advance scientific understanding, and address societal issues. The research priorities of the university align with the National Higher Education Research Agenda and the Harmonized National Research Agenda, which identify key areas of research that are relevant to the country’s development needs. These priorities may include marine and environmental sciences, agriculture and fisheries, engineering, information technology, education, health, and social sciences, among others.

The development component of the agenda focuses on the practical application of research findings, with the aim of creating innovative products, services, and solutions that address societal needs. This includes technology transfer, patenting, and commercialization activities that support entrepreneurship and industry development.

The extension component of the agenda involves the dissemination of research findings to the wider community, including local government units, non-governmental organizations, and the general public. This includes activities such as training programs, technology demonstration, and public awareness campaigns that promote the adoption of new technologies and practices that can improve the lives of Filipinos.

Overall, the research development and extension agenda of Jose Rizal Memorial State University is a comprehensive plan that seeks to align the institution’s activities with national and regional development plans. RDE Thrusts

Strengthen research collaborations. The university can strengthen collaborations with national and international research institutions to leverage expertise, share resources, and increase the impact of research. This can include joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and joint supervision of graduate students.

Promote interdisciplinary research. Encourage interdisciplinary research that brings together researchers from different fields to address complex societal issues. This can include establishing interdisciplinary research centers, promoting interdisciplinary seminars, and providing incentives for interdisciplinary research.

Support industry partnerships. Work with industry partners to identify research needs and co-create solutions that address their needs. This can include establishing industry partnerships, conducting joint research, and providing technology transfer services to industry partners.

Develop incubation and entrepreneurship programs. Create incubation and entrepreneurship programs that provide support for students and faculty who want to commercialize research findings. This can include training programs, mentorship, access to funding, and networking opportunities.

Strengthen community outreach. Develop community outreach programs that disseminate research findings and promote the adoption of new technologies and practices. This can include training programs, technology demonstrations, and public awareness campaigns that target local government units, non-governmental organizations, and the general public.

Enhance technology transfer. Develop technology transfer programs that facilitate the transfer of research findings to industry and the wider community. This can include patenting, licensing, and technology transfer services that support entrepreneurship and industry development.

Prioritize sustainability research.  Prioritize sustainability research that addresses issues related to climate change, energy, and environmental protection. This can include establishing sustainability research centers, conducting research on sustainable practices, and promoting the adoption of sustainable technologies and practices.

Foster internationalization. Foster internationalization by providing opportunities for students and faculty to engage with the international research community. This can include study abroad programs, international research collaborations, and international research conferences.
