Ilustrados shake off the new academic year

JRMSU welcomed Ilustrados with an electrifying Timbaya Fest filled with enthusiasm, greetings, and fun, during the opening of the Academic Year 2023-2024 with the noble purpose of building bonds, connections, and cultivating knowledge.
In the morning, Ilustrados celebrated the first day of classes by attending the first Flag Raising Ceremony to officially welcome the collegiate year, beginning with a harmonious tune of welcome from the Lundayan Chorister as they begin the day with a doxology, then the singing of the National Anthem, and followed by the playing of the JRMSU Hymn.
Dr. Venus D. Namoc, Dean of Student Affairs and Services, kicked off the day with a passionate welcome speech to everybody, along with the statement of purpose from the University SSG President, Hon. Shaina E. Saguin.
It was a day filled with new beginnings and uncertainty, but students from various organizations gradually showcased their exceptional booths, displaying their unique features and benefits to introduce their group to the freshmen, assisting them in gaining new members and allowing newbies to showcase their talents and passions.
In the afternoon, the event was followed by the presentation of SSG and FSO officers, starting with the non-academic officers, academic organizations, college governors and vice governors, legislative department, campus court of justice, and finally the executive department.
A raffle draw was also conducted to engage students and make them feel optimistic over their first day of classes. This portion was followed by the intermission numbers from non-academic organizations, beginning with the Lundayan Dance Troupe, followed by Teyatro Dasuliman, and Prism Drag Show, then a Zumba fitness to close the day one events.
